NOMINATE YOUR LOCAL SPORTING HEROES

Have you always admired a local sportsperson from afar, but never had the opportunity to show them how much their efforts are appreciated? Well, here’s your chance to put things right.

The Newark and Sherwood Sports Awards and Review 2010 is taking place on Wednesday, November 17 at the Palace Theatre, Newark.

The awards, the fifth to take place, celebrate the achievements of the district's leading players, teams, volunteers and clubs. Nominations are now being taken.

The nomination process is open to anyone and nominators can be teachers, coaches, volunteers or parents, or someone who plays alongside a potential sporting hero.

There are 11 categories for different junior, senior and club nominations:

• Joseph Whitaker School Sports Partnership Junior Sportsperson of the Year
• Newark Advertiser Junior Team of the Year
• Sports Development Junior Disabled Sportsperson of the Year
• Nottinghamshire County Sports Partnership Junior Volunteer of the Year
• The Palace Theatre, Newark Senior Team of the Year
• Senior Disabled Sportsperson of the Year sponsored by the Newark and Sherwood Disability Development Forum
• Larken and Co Solicitors Senior Sportsperson of the Year
• Sport and Physical Activity Partnership Volunteer of the Year
• Nottinghamshire Sport Coach of the Year
• SB Trophies Club of the Year
• Outstanding Contribution to Sport sponsored by Boundary Sound
