Shop Front Improvement Grant

The Shop Front Improvement Grant is available to both existing businesses and owners of currently vacant units within the town centres of Newark, Ollerton and Southwell, who can prove a definite need to improve the physical appearance of the shop front, benefitting both the business and making a visible improvement to the town centre.

Grants can be used towards professional painting and decorating services, repair and the replacement of fascias and signs and are only available to independent retailers. Larger chains or multiple retail organisations will not qualify.

The grants on offer are up to 50% of the total project cost up to a maximum of £1000

LEADER - Rural Development Programme for England - Grant Scheme

The aim of the  North Notts LEADER Programme is to build knowledge and skills within our rural communities, and encourage innovation and co-operation by supporting innovative projects which tackle local rural development issues.  Aimed at promoting economic and community development within rural areas, LEADER is a ground roots method of delivering support for rural development through implementing a rural development strategy and supporting rural businesses.

On the site you will find lots of information about the LEADER Programme – who can apply for funding, how you can apply, and examples of projects that have so far been approved by the Local Action Group (LAG).

Should there be any information you require and cannot find on the website, please contact the LEADER Project Manager who will be happy to help you.

Business Continuity

Under the Civil Contingencies Act, one of the duties placed upon Newark and Sherwood District Council is to promote Business Continuity in their area.

Why Plan for an Emergency?

From major corporations to a family run corner shop, emergencies can be potentially devastating and in some cases are very likely to cause the closure of the business?

Newark and Sherwood District Council are encouraging local businesses to be prepared for any unexpected events such as flooding, fires and other events such as a possible flu pandemic by creating a robust Business Continuity Plan.

For further information on this visit the Business Continuity Page.
