Housing Services

Newark and Sherwood District Council provides a range of housing services to its residents.  The District Council’s tenants voted to create an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) and on the 1st November 2004 the District Council transferred the management of its housing stock to Newark and Sherwood Homes (ALMO).    

You should contact Newark and Sherwood Homes if you:-  

• Want to apply for a Council home 
• Need to find out about your tenancy
• Need advice on paying your rent and other charges 
• Need information on decent homes standards   
• Want to request a repair, alteration or improvement to your property 
• Would like advice on tenant involvement 
• Need information on adaptations for the disabled   
• Need information on buying your Council property
• Need information on service charges and repairs and maintenance to leasehold flats
• Wish to praise us or complain, make a suggestion or comment   
• Need information on sheltered and supported housing

The Community Housing Team is part of the Strategic Housing Service.  It encompasses housing across all tenures and one of its key tasks is to raise the profile of housing, both within the District and at a regional level. For more information on the Community Housing Team

The Housing Options Team is part of the Strategic Housing Service. To reflect the service we aim to provide, the Homelessness and Housing Advice Service was restructured and renamed Housing Options.   

If you are experiencing housing difficulties, for whatever reason, then you should seek advice at the earliest opportunity. Our Housing Options Officers will always aim to seek a solution to your given situation by providing a choice of housing options or signposting you to a relevant organisation that is more able to deal with your circumstance.  For more information on the Housing Options Team.
